Housley & Co are a great Derbyshire company producing a fabulous range of handmade home and garden accessories including cushions, bags, pictures, aprons and much more. The attention to detail is superb and all of their products can be personalised to make a great gift. I love to own individual items, especially when I know it’s one of a kind and this is their speciality! I have already placed my order for a commissioned bag!

Here’s all you need to know about Housley & Co in Louise’s words:

Having spent 15 years in the fashion industry and travelling the world I decided that it was time to spend some time at home combining the two things that I love, gardens and interiors. My range of products is very diverse and constantly developing and evolving, probably a throw back from all the constant newness required when designing and buying fashion ranges in my previous life!

My background is in embroidery and my embroidered cushions and pictures use this love for ‘collected’ pieces of fabric and my passion for pattern to create personalised pictures and cushions which can be commissioned for special occasions or matched to room schemes.

My love of interior fabrics prompted me to develop my cushions and bag range using predominantly GP & J Baker linen, which is quintessentially British, helping me to support the British market. After years of buying products from abroad I am more aware of the buy British banner and want to support this.

I combine printed linen with beautiful ribbons and my trade mark gingham ribbon in rich wine along with my label. All these are hand made by myself in Derbyshire and as a result each one is slightly different and unique.

My outdoor range is born from a love of wax cotton and its fantastic qualities that we all know and love from the wax cotton coats that have been part of British life for many years. Water resistant and hard wearing the cushions are multi use and can be used on the floor as cushions for picnics and gatherings or as chair cushions. With their carrying handles they can be easily carried or practically stored in the shed or garage in the winter months. My wax cotton aprons are a must for any serious gardener and are shorter in length to allow easy movement with large bellow pockets for storing all that a gardener needs, I have also been known to use mine for cleaning in as the pocket holds all my cleaning cloths, polish, phone etc. I also use the wax cotton on bags and my new development log carrier, as it is very strong.
