I found Avant Garde purely by chance. We were passing through Baslow on the way to visit friends and I immediately shrieked ‘stop!’ It was December and the shop looked absolutely stunning from the outside, the window displays were so inviting, I just had to go in! The attention to detail seems to be the main focus for Avant Garde. They have a selection of home and garden accessories in their main shop and there is also a sister shop selling items of furniture a short walk from the main shop.
Avant Garde offer a vast selection of home accessories and gifts including bedding, cushions, lamps, clocks, jewellery, scarves, items for the garden and much more. I highly recommend a visit, especially if you’re heading to Chatsworth as it’s literally 2 minutes drive away.
The owner, Linda, always had an interest in homes and gardens, but found it difficult to find the items she was looking for at an affordable price. Six months later, Linda had left her job and found the perfect shop in Baslow and Avant Garde was born.
I’m absolutely useless when it comes to resisting temptation, so my first visit to Avant Garde resulted in many purchases, most of which were stunning Christmas accessories, which I still adore to this day. I revisit regularly to see what new goodies they have in stock.

I really enjoy a visit to Avant Garde. There's always something there to tempt me and there are lots of ideas to give me inspiration. This shop is a must see leading up to Christmas, just beautiful.

This is absolute heavenly shopping in a nutshell! Went there today on a Christmas shopping expedition and wasn't disappointed. So many lovely things, beautifully displayed and with such style. If there is shopping in heaven it must be like this!

I could furnish my whole house from this shop. It's great just for browsing and picking up ideas - as well as for treating yourself and your friends. You never leave without a good idea for your home, or that perfect gift.

Avant Garde is my first stop if I need a gift. It's a lovely shop, with a great feel. I know I can always ask the staff any question about the products they sell and they'll know the answer. Great place
