A passion for food, quality local ingredients and an Aga…mixed together makes Jack Rabbits!

Jack Rabbits is a truly unique independent business run by the lovely Amelia Horne. Amelia has always been passionate about food and after receiving so many compliments and being asked to prepare dishes for friends and family to pass off as their own creations…Jack Rabbits was born.

Have you always loved the idea of being able to or having the time to cook like Nigella Lawson, then Jack Rabbits is your answer. Jack Rabbits offers you a wonderful selection of savouries and desserts, all of which can be taken home and enjoyed and what I really like is the ability to choose the exact portion size you want, ensuring there’s no mess or the dreaded over indulgence!

Amelia’s idea is fantastic and offers all customers the ability to enjoy home cooked food without the hassle and mess of preparing it yourself.

Even if you love to cook, Jack Rabbits is still a perfect stop off on those days where time is of the essence, but a fulfilling home cooked meal is still expected. The options are endless…whether your aim is to impress your partner, inviting friends round for a meal or just wanting to get home and put your feet up. When I visited I took home some roasted new potatoes and managed to get away with telling my partner I made them, he was impressed!

Amelia is an inspiration, she is passionate about wholesome home cooked food made with locally sourced ingredients. The vegetables and fruit are from Derby Market, wine from Red Zebra and meats from Barry Fitch in Little Eaton. What I love the most is the attention to detail, not only will you be taking home a delicious meal, it will be lovingly wrapped in Jack Rabbits ribbon and given to you with full cooking guidelines individual to each dish.

Dishes include shepherds pie, venison casserole, salmon & spinach pie, thai green curry, steak and ale pie and so much more.

Jack Rabbits also offer a full catering service for any occasion and will tailor a menu to your menu requirements.

My tastebuds were tingling before I'd even got inside the shop as the gorgeous smell of Amelia's home cooking wafted out into the street. We had a delicious dinner of vegetable chilli and dauphinoise potatoes. I'll be back again for another helping soon!

I discovered Jack Rabbits after some leaflets were passed around at work. Best food in Derby city centre by far (and best Dauphinoise Potatoes I've ever tasted). Give it a go and you'll be back time and time again.

Visited Jack Rabbits today after seeing it on here. Any place that has an Aga is worth a visit in my eyes! I visited at lunch and was taken aback by the selection of gorgeous looking food that is clearly lovingly put together. I picked up a few things for lunch including a Paradise Slice. Well what can I say, it was delicious. Will certainly be returning next time I'm in Derby.

I had been meaning to pay a visit to Jack Rabbits for a few weeks when I went in after a shopping trip. The ladies in there are all really friendly and I ordered a slice of flan and some roasted baby potatoes. I got them back to the office and all of my work mates were jealous and asked where I got such a fabulous lunch. Will paying a visit again soon and will be trying something else from the menu. I hope that this independant and unique business grows as it is definately needed within the city.
